How to do a cluster of paper lanterns?
Q. I'd like to cluster about 8 or so paper lanterns over my bed in my apartment, but that means 8 or so different cords...in 8 different outlets. Does anyone have any ideas on how to condense these or something so I don't have to use 8 different power outlets?
Asked by Katy - Mon Jul 25 13:42:11 2011 - Do It Yourself (DIY) - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Although there are several designs that are quick connect lamp bases, they usually don't allow connection in the middle of your lamp cord. However there is one way I know about that will allow parallel connecting which is what you need to do. I think it will be perfect with what you want to do. You will only need one plug, one length of the right size lamp cordage for these sockets and the sockets. 10 sockets will cost you 92 cents each, plus shipping if you can't find them locally. Just buy your lamp zip cord long enough to go from your first light , to all the others and long enough to go to an outlet. One wire one plug will do it all. SS You will need to find this locally in a hardware, lamp store or order it through this link below.… [cont.]

How do I string paper lanterns inside a tent?
Q. I'm having a wedding soon and Im a little concerned about the paper lanterns. Does anyone have an experience with them? How exactly do they work? Is it difficult to string them to the tent? Thanks a lot!
Asked by - Mon Apr 19 08:05:47 2010 - Weddings - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Hi- You can use fishing line to string the lanterns to the tent. Just make sure that the fishing line can withstand the weight of the lanterns you are using. For my wedding, I was freaking out about the lanterns until I went to my neighborhood Big Five store. They were able to show me all the fishing lines they had. If you haven't purchased your lanterns, yet. Checkout www.jadetime.com. They have the best prices on lanterns. A better deal when you purchase them in sets of 10 or more. Good luck!

How to add cherry blossom to paper lanterns?
Q. I'm getting married and want to hang paper lanterns from the ceiling. I want an easy way to add a cherry blossom to the plain white paper lanterns, Any ideas would be grateful. The plain lanterns are a lot cheaper than ones with the cherry blossom already decorated on there. THANKS!
Asked by Maranda M - Tue Apr 27 23:37:04 2010 - Weddings - 4 Answers - Comments
A. Cherry blossoms would be easy to paint on the lanterns. So, you cannot paint?? I am positive if you practiced painting with just a few strokes, you can do this yourself. It is a very simple five leaf pattern. There are paint brushes you can get in the perfect shape you need to make a pedal. All you do is repeat the one small stroke five times. If you want to add the branches, you can either get a brown thick magic marker and draw it on or brown paint and brush the branches on. The nice thing about nature is that there is no predetermined way the branch goes, so anything goes. If you google "Cherry Blossom Images" you can see for yourself how simple it would be to duplicate. Or, if you absolutely cannot do this, ask a friend.… [cont.]

Where can I find zebra print paper lanterns other than the ones on Cost Plus World Market?
Q. I have been looking online for a large zebra print paper lantern. The only one I have run across is the set of 3 animal print lanterns on www.worldmarket.com. Although the set includes a zebra lantern, it is only 10 inches. I would like to find a bigger one. Any ideas where?
Asked by coulditbe83 - Fri May 15 21:27:48 2009 - Decorating & Remodeling - 1 Answers - Comments
A. good luck with that! The only thing I could suggest is to get plain white ones (which are cheaper) and paint a zebra design on it, which is really easy, you just need patience and the right paint brushes.

A. The release of paper lanterns is a common tradition and is used in Asian cultures to celebrate all kinds of occasions. Particularly, there is a Thai holiday called "Yi Peng" which is held on the full moon of the second month of the old Lanna calendar and coincides with the Loi Krathong festival in the new Thai calendar. During these holidays the release of khom loi (floating lanterns) is widespread. The Polish have also been known to release paper lanterns to celebrate the summer solstice. How many paper lanterns do i need to look good at my wedding reception?
Q. i am having an wedding reception and part of it is in a tent that is 600 square feet and I was curious as to how many paper lanterns I should hang without it looking bare but yet not over cluttered with various sizes of lanterns and various hieghts ... does anyone have any suggestions

A. You want at least 40. You can cluster them, perhaps three in one spot. Don't put any in the deep dark corners. Consider a fabric swag, as well on the tent ceiling.

Q. I'm having paper lanterns for my wedding, lid from the inside with special LED lights. They're being hung from the ceiling and you can see inside the lantern when you stand below them, so i really want some closed bottom ones. How do I lite paper lanterns for my reception?
Q. We are having an indoor reception at the golf course- with LOTS of windows. So I'm wondering if I should bother lighting the lanterns (they are going to be light yellow) and if so how do I go about doing it? I read somewhere not to use the led tea light candles plus I was going to order from asianideas.com and their paper lanterns have openings in the top and bottom so not sure how that would work anyway. Any ideas are appreciated!!
Asked by kimmybaxter1995 - Thu Apr 29 09:56:52 2010 - Halloween - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Well the ones I have include mini lightbulbs, so you might want to try to find ones like that. I wouldn't recommend tea light candles, unless you can find electronic ones. Someone could knock it over and set the place on fire. If you can't put the lanterns over a lightbulb, get these. They're much safer. Congratulations, by the way!

Hanging paper lanterns @ a reception hall?
Q. Hanging lanterns at a reception hall. How do you go about doing that just wire and hooks? We don't need them lit just for decor in a high ceilinged room. We were going to hang them from the air vents-but not sure.Any suggestions? We are going for the paper lantern in a tent look, but minus the tent. Thanks

A. yeah just tie they with fishing line or other clear line- you can use paper clips, binder clips or other hook type objects to secure them to the ceiling. you can also try sticky putty, like the stuff you use to hang posters, to secure the line to the ceiling

DIY Paper lanterns or spicing up twinkle lights?
Q. Does anyone have some suggestions for adding some spice to twinkle lights for a wedding? Or how to make your own paper lanterns..any style welcome! Links would be awesome, thanks.

A. You can take little silk flowers off their stems and centers and glue them around Christmas lights. I saw this craft in Martha Stewart Living Magazine and tried it myself, it really makes the lights look awesome. I've also done it using tissue paper cut outs in the shape of leaves, construction paper and gift wrap. Tissue paper gives a misty look when the lights are on, but you have to make the leaf shape small or they tend to fold away from the heat of the light and don't look as ethereal.
