How can I hang up posters without damaging my wall?
Q. How can I hang up posters without damaging my wall? I moved into a new apartment and have a whole bunch of posters I want to hang up. But I don't want to punch holes in the walls with tacks or pins. And I tried using the blue putty stuff, but it stuck to the wall and some of the paint came off when I tried to remove it. Also, the puddy was simply not strong enough to hole up even the smallest poster for more then a week. Any ideas? Thanksss!

How to hang a long mirror on the wall that has no thick backing?

How should I hang cloth braided vines from walls and ceilings without damaging paint?
Q. I am in charge of decorating a retreat for my school. We are going to hang up cloth braided into vines from the walls and from the ceiling. How much should I hang with new friends over summer?
Q. I'm hanging out with some people this summer and I been with each of them and together a few times. I'm not really hooked onto them but I'm not an annoyance either. A. Anchors won't hold the weight you're talking about. What you need is called a "toggle bolt". You can find a picture of one here: On that site, you will also find something called a Molly Bolt which may also suit your needs. That is the bolt that T is describing. Mollys are used for heavy objects that will not move, like your curtain brackets, but moving the curtains will place added stress on them, and they may not be up to the task if your curtains are as heavy as you are suggesting. My money is on the Toggle Bolt. Get the Toggle Bolts with the metal nut, not the plastic ones. It will only cost you a few cents more, but will take about 5 times as much stress. -SD-

How do you hang something from a popcorn ceiling?

A. If you are hanging anyhing heavy ot that could be pulled down, you might want to find/screw into the wood furring strips(depending on construction type) rather than just drywall. You may need a stud finder to locate. Or use plastic screw anchors or one of those hinged/winged bolts that opens up once through the hole (forget the name). Pre-drill holes for both of these. For holes, just fill with joint compound (or vinyl pach). You can ever texture it a little to be popcorny. It will be easier to hide the patches in a textured ceiling.

A. Your girlfriend sounds very controlling. A true friend would not want to keep you away from other friends. She sounds a little jealous also. This seems to be a no win situation. You deserve much better. We allow people to treat us the way they do. You can't continue to live your live at her demand. I know it is difficult that you are living together but this won't work unless she will let up. She sounds as if she has self esteem issues and doesn't think much of herself. A. Unfortunately, no, that is just the way things dry on the line. One solution is to remove the items from the line when just slightly still wet and toss them in the dryer for 15 minutes with a dryer sheet.

A. Yep - go to your local hardware store or framing shop and ask which hanger would be best for your particular frame - there are several options of hangers. The "sawtooth" blades, the loop, hook and wire, etc.

A. Zip ties they DON'T BREAK in nasty weather, and are not metal like twist ties - which break easily. You can pick them up cheaply at Wal Mart or Home Depot. I use them often for outdoor crafts & other things.

How to hang indoor Christmas lights around a window?
Q. I would like to hang indoor Christmas lights around a window from the inside. I did this last year, but used tape to hang them and the cold made the tape come off. I do not want to use nails as the window frames are very hard (like concrete) and nails would ruin the window trim/finish. I'd hang lights outside, but that would require opening a basement window and leaving it part way open in order to run the cord to an outlet (no exterior outlets at my house) Any suggestions?

A. several ways..most home depots, lowes, etc have hanging clips that can be screwed into your metal supports with self tapping screws making them available every year. if your carport has smaller poles supporting your roof, i have used larger plastic tie wraps to hang lights..you may want to wrap the poles with the lights..many others..merry christmas,,,fred

A. There are these velcro type hangers you can get. They have a stickey side to go on the wall and on the picture, and then you just hang it with the velcro side. They work great and dont' peel the paint when you decide to take them down. And they come in different sizes. I got them at Home Hardware, but I'm sure they are at other hardware stores too.

How hard is it to hang a new screen door?
Q. My front door has an old style aluminum screen door. I'd like to replace it with a glass screen door so my dog can hang out there. Now, I've priced the doors and I've found one I like. I got one from Lowe's -- same thing $148 for the door $115 to hang it.They come pre -hung ( in their own frame - so to speak) and the only part I needed help on was someone to hold the door itself on the last side .The directions come with it. and if you're handy at all it's pretty basic.
